A new double feature DVD covering The North York Moors Railway and The Keighly & Worth Valley Railway filmed in 1998 and 1990 - Vintage Whistler !

About "Yorkshire Railways"

Take a dynamic trip on the Keighly and Worth Valley Railway, up and down the valley on trains with locomotives working hard up the hill. See the Standard Locomotives on the Worth Valey working hard, as well as a lot more varied motive power featuring in the video. It is a busy hour of excellent shots from trackside, footplate and stations. You will really see the character of this excellintly preserver railway, plus gimpses of vintage electrics now long departed.

This is aone hour long period piece made on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in 1990, a bit before the line became so famous - but it was still very busy, even then! The North Yorkshire Moors Railway needs large and powerful locomotives to surmount its hard gradients with trains long enough to carry the traffic on offer. Then the train meanders through the beautiful National Park to Pickering.

The video shows this very well, with lots of shots of the trains and the scenery. It is a vintage piece that still holds up today, with an informative commentary.

Running time - approx 120 minutes.

A recent addition to the DVD collection and what a gem of history this dual programme is, with the varied coverage including KWVR steam locos 75078, 78022 and 5775, with both on the loco and lineside footage captured NYMR coverage, features old favourites 3672 Dame Vera Lynn, 80135, 30926 Repton, 901 and 841, again both on the locos and lineside footage is included. What is most striking on both programmes is how they have changed. A must for any fan of either of these established lines.

Okay, so this is now quite an elderly production by Graham and his team. But don't be fooled, it is a great buy. I'm only sorry I didn't acquire it sooner. But having ordered it two days before Christmas I was surprised, no more truthfully I was shocked when it arrived on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, and especially as my main interest is in narrow gauge railways, I put it to one side, enjoyed Christmas and New Year and decided to watch it yesterday (6th January) just because there was nothing else that appealed on T.V. I should be ashamed of myself. It is a really unmissable programme that I will return to many times.
