The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway offers the visitor to Lakeland a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the splendid countryside from the vantage point of an open carriage, pulled by steam. This is no ordinary miniature railway, it is a little line with a main line feel and a character all of its own. Here are some of the rarer sights you may see on the railway, locomotives visiting the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway as well as the resident favourites. You will see veterans from the start of 15" gauge railways, still roaring along the rails today and the new addition to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway locomotive fleet, the powerful diesel Douglas Ferreira.
