About "Vale of Rheidol & Brecon Mountain Railways"

The Vale of Rheidol Railway runs 12 miles from Aberystwyth 14 ft above sea level to Devil's Bridge at 693ft, in one of the most spectacular valleys in Wales. The 2ft narrow gauge railway opened in 1902. This video was shot in 1989 just after the present owners had taken over from British Rail that year. The production includes dramatic footplate and lineside views.

The last 20 minutes of this film was shot on the Brecon Mountain Railway, also 2ft narrow gauge, in South Wales. The return trip from Pant to Potsticill features the superbly restored Graf Schwerin Lowitz locomotive.

The voiceover was written by Peter van Zeller and anrrated by Richard Rees. Filmed and Directed by Graham Whistler. Digitally remastered for DVD by GWP in 2007. GWP have been producing high quality railway videos for over 20 years and this is one of over 40 quality railway films.

Running time - approx 60 minutes.
